As the saying goes, "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts." This certainly rings true for the progressive approach that was taken to ensure a sustained commitment to quality Catholic education in Toledo and its eastern communities. Kateri Catholic School System, the Toledo area's only all-inclusive pre-kindergarten through grade 12 Catholic school system, is comprised of Kateri Catholic Academy, grades pre-kindergarten through 8, and Cardinal Stritch High School.
Kateri Catholic Academy is the result of three Catholic elementary schools with their supporting parishes and five non-school parishes in the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Deanery of the Diocese of Toledo joining together with Cardinal Stritch High School to create a strong Catholic elementary and middle school serving our community.
A quote from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops statement on primary and secondary Catholic education entitled, "Renewing our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Third Millennium," served as a driving force behind the efforts to address the challenges facing our Catholic elementary schools. The statement reads, "The burden of supporting our Catholic schools can no longer be placed exclusively on the individual parishes that have schools and on parents who pay tuition...the future of Catholic school education depends on the Catholic community."
